Look for a record of where work occurred and what was altered. If a leak begins afterward, the timing is useful information, but it does not establish the source by itself.

Follow the new details around the equipment
The transition around a curb, a new pipe opening or a support can require roofing work beyond the equipment installation. Drain paths can also change if materials, debris or new placement obstruct runoff.
Agree who is responsible for the equipment enclosure and who handles the roof flashing. Mechanical or electrical work and membrane work can belong to different scopes. The useful result is a complete connection with no unresolved gap between them.
Avoid a universal patch prescription. The roof material, flashing and attachment must be identified before selecting a compatible repair.
Add the change to the maintenance record
Record the work date, location, contractor scope and any roof changes. Keep photos and product information with the roof plan so the next inspection can compare the same areas. Note any new indoor water during later rain.
